This week's edition is brought to us by the exciting events of this weekend and The Back Porch. (No, my life isn't really that pathetic. It's my attempt at a public service reminder, okay?)
Onesome: Daylight-- Savings Time is up here in the US this weekend. Ready? Set? Go? ...or will you just wake up and worry about it sometime Sunday?
I'll change my alarm clock when I get back from Disneyland Sunday morning so I get the maximum sleep before church. But I'll worry about the rest of the clocks later. Of course, since I'm not using VCR's any more, I have very few clocks I need to worry about changing. I like that!
Twosome: Savings--? Hey, do you use coupons when you shop? ...and do you go looking for them online?
I do at important places like bookstores. Otherwise, I just pay the price. I tried using coupons, but I never remembered to take them. And since it's just me, I don't know if I really saved enough to make it worth while.
Threesome: Time-- to batten down the hatches where you are? They've had snow in Ohio and Ottawa; and we may not hit the 80's this weekend in CaliLand: is Winter approaching for you?
I'm told we might be getting rain showers this weekend. It's supposed to be in the low 70's or colder for the next couple weeks. I think fall has finally arrived. :(
Thoughts from a California native currently residing just north of LA.

Thursday Threesome for October 23rd
This week's edition is brought to us by The Back Porch as always.
Onesome: Just-- the Cell Phone? ...and no land line? How does it pencil out for you: do you need to have both a cell phone and a home phone in your life? How about down the road? Do you see yourself disconnecting from the hard-wired connection?
I got rid of my land line when I got my cell phone this Spring. And I so love having a cell phone!
Twosome: Checking-- accounts, a thing of the past or something that will be around for a while? I'm wondering how much we're coming around to debit cards and online payments...
Um, where do you keep the money that covers the stuff you pay for with your debit card or an online payment? Your checking account, of course. Now, checks might be a thing of the past pretty soon, although I still find myself using one or two every month.
Threesome: In-- the same vein: how about the net itself? If you're on it for basic communications then what happens when your handheld device becomes your email/chat/and voice communication system? Do you bail from the hardwired home links when wifi becomes just a little more ubiquitous? ...and before you answer, check in with any teen you see walking down the street with their head in the Net!
I don't see myself giving up full internet any time soon. It doesn't help that I don't pay for internet access on my phone. However, I don't think it will really go away in the near future.

Thursday Threesome for October 16th
This week's edition is brought to us by fencing and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Dodge--? ...as in "Get outa'? Okay, so tomorrow is Friday: where would you go to "get out of Dodge" for a day (if you could, that is)?
Probably where I am going on Saturday, Disneyland!
Twosome: Parry--? What's your best comeback? ...and yeah, "Oh, yeah?" doesn't count!
You know you're wrong.
Threesome: Block-- Parties: do you have them? Apartment get togethers count too. Oh, heck, even dorm keggers, -eh?
Nope. Get to gether with friends? Yes. Neighbors? Not so much.

Thursday Threesome for October 9th
Looks like The Back Porch doesn't have a Thursday Threesome listed this week. But since I haven't yet done the one from when I was at DisneyWorld, I'll do that one.
Onesome: "Goodbye,--Norma Jean"? Hmmm.... Best song ever? ...or did he top himself when he adapted it for Princess Diana?
I actually have heard either version of the Elton John song, so I don't have an opinion.
Twosome: Yellow--lights: run 'em or slam on the brakes? ...or do you plan your speed so you never hit them yellow? ...or maybe, "What yellow light, Officer?"!
Usually it's slam on the brakes while grumbling that I have to wait. But if I am close or have sat through the light a cycle or two already, I will push it through.
Threesome: Brick Road--s and flying monkeys? Okay, did those things just creep you out? ...or were you one of those people who really, really, really wanted one for a pet? Just askin'...
Pretty much, they creeped me out in the movie, but I thought they were cool in the book. A walking contradiction. But what about that surprises you. :)

Thursday Threesome for October 2nd
I'm hoping to get back to the Disney trip tonight, so I thought I'd post this now. Brought to us this week by ...tom... and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Your-- ability to see beyond the horizon is limited only by your imagination. Discuss!
But what if your imagination and what is really over the horizon don't match up?
Twosome: mileage may-- be lower for some drivers due to variables like under-inflated tires or speeding up to get to the next red light. Hmmm... Any tips out there for those trying to stretch their fuel dollars?
While I have become quite the led foot, I do take my foot off the gas if I know the light is red ahead of me. Not only does it save gave, but it saves your breaks, too.
Threesome: Vary-- this, vary that, and pretty soon you've broken up a routine. Here's one: what routine of yours really needs to have a little variation introduced? (I'll exclude changing the flavor of your Friday evening ice cream snack; while a little change may be good, radical events should be planned out!)
My weekends could use more ultimate Frisbee, something I hope to change soon.

Thursday Threesome for September 18th
Yep, that time of the week. (Finally.) Brought to us this week by Network problems (like Blogger seems to be having right now) and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Loss-- of appetite? Have you ever been invited to an event where the food just was too terrible to even pretend to like? What was your solution? ...I mean, besides holding out for a burger on the way home!
Never a formal meal where people would notice I wasn't eating. It's always been places were I could get away without eating without offending anyone.
Twosome: of-- the last three days, we've lost Net access in Central CaliLand most of the time. I'm thinking it has to do with the lack of a State budget out here. Do you have long periods of disconnect where you are?
We've had them at work, but they were always local issues. Never city wide.
Threesome: Connectivity:--, addiction or necessity? Is the Net essential to your daily activities (yes, work counts!)? ...or would you even notice if someone cut the wire?
Take my internet away, and I'll kill you! Okay, it's not that bad, but I do get on it quite a bit during the day and I miss it after a few days off. Next week will be interesting since I won't even be taking my computer on my vacation.

Thursday Threesome for September 11th
Welcome to a very special edition of the Thursday Threesome found, as always, on The Back Porch.
Onesome: Memories from-- a few years back: what were you doing on 9-11?
I had just gotten back from the second Trixie Convention two days before. I was trying to find a place to live (I did that day.) I was actually getting ready for work when my soon to be roommate called and told me to turn on the TV. I had to come into work that day, but I had news sites up all day.
Twosome: the-- thought occurs: Should this be a holiday? ...or perhaps a day of remembrance with a moment of silence nationwide?
I don't know if I think it should be a holiday. For one thing, making it a holiday would make it completely irrelevant. I mean, do any of us really spend Memorial Day remembering? But it does seem like some kind of national moment of silence or something would be appropriate. Of course, I was going to fly my flag today and completely forgot.
Threesome: Past-- 'days that will live in infamy': do you recall any other days of tragedy that have a placeholder on your mental calendar?
While I can't tell you the day, I definitely do remember watching the coverage of the Challenger explosition. Fortunately, that's about the only other one from my life time.
Bonus: Who's quote did I paraphrase in the question above?
FDR referring to Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941), of course.

Thursday Threesome for September 4th
Yep, I'm getting to this later than I had planned. But I don't mind. Why not? Because I got to leave work early. See, my boss was giving me a ride to pick up my car after an oil change, and he wanted to leave. So I left. And I'm now on vacation until Wednesday! Yes, life is good.
But you came here to read the Thursday Threesome for the week, brought to us by recyclers and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Greenwaste-- containers: we're using full sized 'toters' (those cans the trunks can automatically dump); are you using anything special in your city? Does anyplace in the US still let you burn leaves in the Autumn?
Promise not to shoot me? We don't even having recycling here in my condo complex. We're supposed to be getting it soon. And when we do, I think it will be just dump everything into a dumpster like we collect the garbage in type of thing. But I guess we'll find out.
Twosome: Disposal-- systems for electronics: out here in CaliLand you just can't 'dump' the old computer or stereo with the trash; they need to go to an 'electronics recycling center'. Do have anything like that where you are?
Seeing as how I am in California, that must be true here. But I'm not sure where I'd take it if I had something to get rid of. (I'm just not coming across as very ecological am I? I'm not this bad. Really!)
Threesome: Facility--, facilitate, faculty, faculties... Do you ever get any of those a little mixed up? Just curious...
Not in the least. And I'm prove it to you.
Facility - To help something along
Facilitate - People who teach, usually at a college or university
Faculty - Mental powers
Faculties - A building or location
What?

Thursday Threesome for August 28th
This week's edition is brought to us by the calendar and The Back Porch.
Onesome: The-- best part of the pudding? I'm teaching the youngest to leave his pudding in the 'fridge for a couple of days (much to his mother's chagrin) to allow the top to 'skim over'. He's thinking I may be right about that adding an extra taste treat to the process. Mom disagrees. What do you think?
You know, I have never tried putting pudding in the fridge to see what happens. I may have to try this out.
Twosome: end of-- da' road? Just for the fun of it, is there a road in your area that you're pretty sure 'goes nowhere' and just ends there?
I don't think there are any roads that go nowhere. But we do have some long roads that seem to go nowhere but eventually get somewhere. And, my personal favorite, we have the roads that change names several times in the course of a few miles. And, to make things worse, they've just added another to the list. *Sigh*
Threesome: Summer-- is over? Really? Just because it's Labor Day? Heck, the kids have been back in school for a week or two; the weather hasn't gotten any cooler out here; and the trees haven't even thought about turning. ...at least where I am: how about at your place?
Summer doesn't end around here until October sometime. We've still got 100 degree weather and will for at least another month. Hey, this is Southern California, after all.

Thursday Threesome for August 21st
This week's edition of Thursday Threesome is brought to us by familiar sayings and The Back Porch.
Onesome: You find out-- all sorts of interesting stuff here on the net. How's about serving up a factoid or site link you've found lately that you are pretty sure no one but you found interesting...
Actually, I'm sure I'm not the only one who found it interesting, but I am highly addicted to the beta of 20 questions for Disney right now.
Twosome: who your-- information sources are can be interesting: who/what are you looking to for information this political season?
My usual source, Fox News.
Threesome: Friends are-- the people who bail you out when you need it? ...or maybe they're the ones waiting in line after you to use the phone looking for bail saying, "Man, that was fun!"? Just wonderin'...
Friends are the people who offer you a warm welcome after you've just made a complete idiot of yourself to them. And they are the people who are there for you when you feel like everything is falling apart.

Thursday Threesome of Friday 8/8/8
Okay, so I'm a day late. But at least it lets me post on 8/8/8.
This week's topic is brought to us by memorable advertising slogans and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Leggo'-- of that! Okay, is there something (sure, food works!) that shows up from time to time that you'd really like to have and someone else usually makes a grab for it? I'm thinking Christmas is coming and maybe those 'special' cookies need to be planned for...
Nothing is springing to mind. Although I certainly like my share of sweets. I'm probably the one grabbing them when I should be letting someone else have them.
Twosome: my-- how time flies: Back to School sales are already over and I'm seeing Thanksgiving stuff in the stores! Whaddayathink: are you ready for Summertime to be over and done with?
Summer will be over when I say it is over. And that won't be until sometime in September or October.
Threesome: Eggos-- and the like: do you have a frozen food you keep around just because you actually like the darned thing?
Honestly, who doesn't like ice cream? (Hey, that's a frozen food, right?)
Seriously, I do enjoy frozen waffles and TV dinners, so I tend to keep them around.

Thursday Threesome for July 31st
This week's edition is brought to us by liscense agreements and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Terms-- of endearment: do you have any you particularly like to use? How about one others use that just grates on you?
I have quickly come to realize just how much I had "Beloved" coming from a pastor. I kinda like Honey and Dear. Not that I have anyone to use them on.
Twosome: of-- the several types of access to the Internet, which one do you use? Dialup, DSL, Broadband, WiFi? Just how connected are you?
I think it's DSL, but I could be wrong on that.
Threesome: Use--less labels: seen any good ones lately? You know, the ones that were issued by the Department of Redundancy Department. ...or maybe by the Darwin Awards Review Committee. I'm thinking this crowd probably has some real winners...
The only one coming to mind is a warning label someone has in her signature at Jix. "Do not attempt to stop chain saw with hands." Well, duh!

Thursday Threesome for July 24th
This week's edition is brought to us by kids of all ages and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Toys--? Any new tech toys at your place? No? What would you like to have that is all sorts of "new and improved" and just hard to live without?
I'm still considering my cell phone and blue tooth head set a new toy. And I'm loving them.
Twosome: 'r-- you ready for school to be in session again? Good grief, it's only July, but the Back to School sales have been in place for a few weeks now. Do you have a trinket you're planning on buying for yourself or the kids for this next year?
I wouldn't call it a trinket, but I do plan to buy a Blu-Ray player in the next six months.
Threesome: Us--? Nah, nothing fancy going on on this blog space. How about you: any changes planned on your site in the upcoming months?
No changes planned, but I do hope to get my All Consumming lists to work right again.

Thursday Threesome for July 17th
This week's episode is brought to us by musicals and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Guys-- do the darnedest things, -right? What's the darnedest thing you've had a male acquaintance do that you just know a gal would never even think of? (Okay, girls, toilet seats do not count on this one!)
Continue on in some obnoxious behavior long after it is clearn that it is bothering their significant other/the rest of the group (depending on the size of the group).
Twosome: and-- to turn it around, what's the darnedest thing you've had a female acquaintance do that you just know a guy would never even think of? (Okay, guys, that hair-flip move doesn't count either...)
How about traveling to the bathroom in packs, then?
Threesome: Doll--ing yourself up? What is your idea of dress-up? Hmmm... Let's go with Summer wear for now!
During the summer, I wear jeans to work, so that's pretty dressed up, right? I do still wear Docker type pants to church. Other than that, it's shorts all the time.

Thursday Threesome for July 10th
Today's Thursday Threesome if brought to us by government and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Filling-- the ol' fuel tank is getting to be real interesting lately... What are gas prices doing in your area this Summer?
$4.50 to $4.60 seems to be the going price for gas around here this summer. And that's for the cheap stuff.
Twosome: Out- and about and you're out of cash: the ATM or the store for a few bucks over on the check? Oh! ...and debit or credit? ...or are you a 'cash economy' person?
I'm not quite sure what a "cash economy" person is. Someone who hordes cash or someone who only uses cash? Personally, I carry some cash with me, but usually use my credit card to get cash back rewards. When I do need cash, I get it from the ATM.
Threesome: Forms-- can be a real pain! Do you have a 'favorite' you dislike even to think about? (...and no, the income tax forms are 'exempt' from this question!)
There was one form for benefits I used to have to fill out for the IRS that I hated filling out. I was glad when our insurance broker took over for me.

(...and no, the income tax forms are 'exempt' from this question
There was one form for benefits I used to have to fill out for the IRS that I hated filling out. I was glad when our insurance broker took over for me.

Thursday Threesome for July 3rd
This week's edition is brought to us by heat and The Back Porch.
Onesome: "Summer--time and the living is easy"... Are you taking it easy at all this Summer? ...or are you grinding along day by day with no "days off" planned?
Right now are my only days off. They gave us Thursday and Friday off for Independence Day. My next big vacation isn't coming until September. Of course, I already had the trip to Hawaii.
Twosome: in the- Onesome is the first line from a song that was taken from a lullaby. Yeah, how about that, Laurie! Do you recognize it or the play it is taken from?
I'm not Laurie, but I don't recognize it.
Threesome: City-- lights? Fireworks tomorrow for you? Do you have a local show to attend? ...or do you kick back with sparklers and and a fountain or two? Have a safe and fun 4th, gang!
I'm hoping to go to the local show tomorrow night. And I'll be hanging out with friends at some point during the day.

Thursday Threesome for June 26th
This week's edition is brought to us by something my team didn't have last night and The Back Porch.
Onesome: "Guts"-- sometimes can determine the outcome: whoever digs in and plays through the injuries and circumstances. What is your favorite memory of someone or a team driving past adversity to win the big one?
Considering I'm looking forward to diving in the Olympics again this year, Greg Luganos (or however it is spelled.) The fact that he came back from hitting his head to win double gold in 1988 will always stand out in my mind.
Twosome: ...and-- what brought that question on? The local team won the College World Series last night, winning every elimination game possible to advance as the lowest seed ever to win a National Title. No question, just kudos to them. Okay, easy question: did you hear anything about the games where you are?
The college world series was played recently?
Threesome: Determination-- helps in life: what have you accomplished through sheer determination that will remain with you as a bright spot in your life?
It may sound like nothing to some people, but my standing in the various review communities. That's taken a lot of work over a long period of time, and I am proud of where I am.

Thursday Threesome for June 19th
Another week, another Thursday Threesome. This week's edition is brought to us by me and The Back Porch. (I always say my gift is over stating the obvious.)
Onesome: Stating-- things clearly? In your job/vocation/school do you like to have everything spelled out in detail? ...or are you one of those people who does better with broad guidelines and a free rein?
I like having some free reign, but I prefer it when things are spelled out fairly specifically.
Twosome: the-- food I miss the most is? (loaded question, but hey...)
Nuts. Since they are the only food I am alergic to, they are the only thing I don't eat any more.
Threesome: Obvious-- to some, but not to others: what is something that seems obvious to you but others seem to miss? ...or how about something you just don't 'get'?
If you don't bounce checks, you won't get fees. Based on the reviews I read in Personal Finance at Epinions, there are plenty of people who don't get that concept. Then they complain about how much the fees are or how the bank decides which order to process stuff in.

Thursday Threesome for June 12th
Welcome to this week's edition, brought to us by full lives and The Back Porch.
Onesome: Work?-- Work! Summer jobs: how about the worst one you've ever had! ...or maybe the most interesting one? You decide...
My summer job history consists of a summer working at a local water slide park and two summers doing various accounting related jobs. Take your pick. The water slide park was lots of fun, but the temp jobs the last summer meant I had to commute, which I have no desire to do again.
Twosome: "Hard" and-- "Tight"? Words take on new meanings all the time. ...used to be both those words were compliments; now it appears "sick" is a good thing (according to the lexicon of the local fourteen year-old). What have you heard lately that took you a minute to figure out. I mean, like "bad" is still "good", right? Tight, man!
Shows how out of it I am. I didn't know that "tight" was now the "bad" thing to say.
Threesome: Play Hard?-- What is your idea of "Summer Fun"? ...and no, walking on the beach doesn't count for this one!
What about playing ultimate Frisbee on the beach? Okay, so I don't play down there all that often, but I do consider my ultimate Frisbee summer league to be part of my summer fun.

Thursday Threesome for June 5th
This week's edition is brought to us by iTunes and The Back Porch.
Onesome: So-- what if everyone else does it?!? I'm different and I'm going to do it my way! Heh, what is that for you? ...the peanut butter and banana sandwich? ...tie-dyed seat covers for the car? ...or maybe an unusual sport?
I do everything my way, in case you hadn't noticed. :) For example, I play ultimate Frisbee, but not much else. I read, but hardly ever the best sellers. In fact, I read books that few men read. And I still enjoy family oriented movies and TV even though I have no kids.
Twosome: Ya'll-- gonna' be catchin' any big ol' trout this year? ...any fishing people out there on the porch? Hey, even watching on TV counts for something...
I have never gone fishing once in my life. I have a feeling I'd find it boring rather quickly. And since I don't like to eat fish, there's really no motivation.
Threesome: "like Music--, like friends": we all have different varieties we listen to from time to time. How about an update on your musical tastes? Go for it!
I stick with mostly Christian music, but I've been pulling out my soundtracks a bit more right now. I tend to go through phases. I'm even considering buying the revival casts of Fiddler on the Roof and Sound of Music since I seem to enjoy the contemporary version more than the Original Cast recordings.
