A Week Again

Heck, I didn't even post the Thursday Threesome yesterday. I'm getting lazy. Or distracted. We'll go with distracted.

Last weekend was a very lazy weekend. About the only thing I did was go to game night. Debbie, Angelique, and I met up for dinner and then played Killer Uno for a couple hours.

Monday, I discovered I have a missing DVD. My copy of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is gone. I have looked everywhere and can't find it to save my life. Guess I'll have to buy another copy. :(

Tuesday, Paul and I went to see The Sentinel. Yep, the ads they ran during 24 got to me. It was ok, but not nearly as good as I thought it would be.

You know you're out of shape when an hour of four square does you in. We played that last night at Bible study, where we had a weird night that didn't include Bible study. Lots of fun; I haven't played that in years. But I need to get back into shape in the next month if I'm going to play ultimate Frisbee this summer.

So, it's 3:50 and I've been home for a half an hour already. Phil and Jason were gone, and Phil's boss told us all to go home early. I was the last one to leave at 2:40.

Just gives me more time to get ready for the La Times Festival of Books tomorrow. I can't wait!

So How About Some Good News?

I've been doing plenty of whining on my blog as of late. How about some good news?

For example, they've finished the repipe in my condo! The patch work on the holes looks wonderful. Hard to tell where they cut it out. Actually, they finished yesterday, so I am mostly moved back in. Still need to get empty boxes back to the garage, but that's minor. Bookcases are back in place and filled in again. It makes so much difference. And the plastic is up off the floor, too. I remember why I like my condo again!

They didn't fix my shower until Wednesday, but that's back together and running well again. Unfortunately, looks like I'll need to track them down and talk to them about Paul's sink. It's leaking slightly. Still, mostly good news.

It's been two weeks since I went to the doctor, and I had an appointment today. Looked at my wound and says it's still healing. Not sure why it's being so slow about it, but it is moving in the right direction. Shallower then it was before, etc. So that was good news as well.

And Alias was back Wednesday night! The show will never recapture the charm of season 1, but it's still lots of fun. I'll miss it when it's gone, but I've got my DVD's to enjoy.

Low on Time

So I really shouldn't be doing this right now. I should be closing out the credit card batch so I can leave on time. But here I am.

Starting with the word association.

  1. Ambition :: Drive
  2. Meatloaf :: Dinner
  3. Celebrity :: Rich
  4. Coach :: Sports
  5. Slacker :: Lazy
  6. Reflection :: Mirror
  7. Original :: Art
  8. Risk :: Reward
  9. Saved :: Christian
  10. June :: July

And now the Thursday Threeseome, brought to us this week by pick up lines and The Back Porch.

Onesome- Hey, good lookin': Makeover time! What's the one thing about yourself you would change if you could? From your hair style to your nose to your weight, you name it
I've always said I wanted to loose a little weight. And loosing weight was the good part of my illness/surgery. But if I don't start seriously watching what I eat, it's going to start coming back soon and quickly.

Twosome- whatcha got cookin'?: Do you like to cook? What's your favorite meal that you cook yourself? Care to share the recipe?
I've been having fun making desserts this last year, but that's all the cooking I do.

Threesome- How's about cookin' something up with me?: If you like to cook, do you like to share the kitchen/grill? If you share, do you direct the goings on, or just let the other person do their thing? Or do you prefer to solo it, subscribing to the "too many cooks spoil the broth," theory?
Since I don't like to cook, I really don't have an answer for this one.

Six Days This Time

So, what's been happening in the last week in my life? Why thank you for asking.

I am so fed up with the guys doing the repiping on my unit! I came home Friday night to find that my shower wasn't usable. They had taken the shower head off and one of the guards to keep the water from getting into the wall is loose. Additionally, the washer and dryer were completely unplugged, including from the electricity. Silly me thought this might get taken care of yesterday since they showed up too late for me to talk to anyone. So today I left a message for them to call me, which they did. I then told them the problems, which they assured me they would fix. I came home tonight to find out they had fixed one out of two. Guess which one. At least I'll have clean towels tomorrow when I use Paul's shower.

And I really can't complain about that. Paul has no problem with me using his shower, as long as I'm out in time for him to get in. Means I have to get up and going earlier then I'm used to, but at least I can go to work clean.

So how about some good news. Or at least fun news.

Friday I had a half day, and I really didn't want to come home and try to stay out of the workers' ways. Of course, if I had realized the mess they were going to leave behind, I would have come home. Anyway, I went down to Van Nuys and hung out with Debbie. She taught me Backgammon, which I am now seriously addicted to. And then we watched Take the Lead and Just Like Heaven, both of which are great films.

Saturday, I went to Grace Baptist for their Passon Week concert. Not only are Konrad and Carol in the orchestra, but a co-worker is on the costume committe and in the choir. I really enjoyed it. I got the special performance, because just as the pastor was starting to talk, the smoke alarm went off. The dry ice they have been using for special effects got into the system. It took a few minutes to get it shut off, and then things concluded.

Sunday, after my own church service, I went down to Konrad and Carol's for Easter lunch. Cabbage rolls. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed them inspite of the fact that they have cabbage in them. Then we played games. Rummikub and Killer Uno to be exact. I didn't get home until 9, so you know we had fun.

Thursday Threesome for April 13th

Gotta do this fast and get home.

Brought to us this week by dreamers and The Back Porch.

Onesome: I am-- When you state "I am", what do you state that you are?
Usually I follow it up with I am an accountant. Or I am strange. No comment necessary.

Twosome: the King-- Are you the king (or queen) of something? The remote? The household? Or is there something else you master?
If I'm not the king of wasting time, I'm certainly the crown prince.

Threesome: of Wishful Thinking-- What have you been wishful for lately?
I've been wishing for nice weather. And we got it today, highs in the low 80's with a slight breeze. Finally feels like spring. In fact, I sat outside on my lunch hour and got a mild sunburn. But it felt so wonderful.

Forecast for tomorrow? Temps in the 60's with rain.

Another Week

Just so you know, I don't mean to go a week without updating on my life. Really!

When I went to the doctor on Friday, he told me things were still looking good. And he didn't think we needed to see each other every week, so I don't go back for another week and a half. Of course, it's still healing slowly. I need patience and I need it now when it comes to this thing.

Game night Saturday was an out in Santa Clarita night. We played minigolf, which I did horribly at, then went to Souplantation for dinner. April is pineapple month, and they have the best pineapple upside down cake. Yum!

Friday night, I had a note on my condo door telling me that they were starting the repipe on Monday instead of Tuesday. So I had to try to work moving stuff for that into an already full weekend. Not what I had planned, but it got done.

Of course, I didn't move as much as I needed to. I got home Monday to find they'd partially moved one of my bookcases and half of the stuff in my closet, including the stuff I'd stuck in there to get it out of the way. Then yesterday, I came home to find something I'd moved a second time to get it out of their way on the floor. I guess they decided to open the window or something like that. At least this is only for two weeks. I can live with it for two weeks.

Of course my roommate starts in last night about how he's feeling clostrophobic in the place. Well, it's pretty full as it is, but we've had to rearrange everything because they need access to half the walls. I don't like it either, but it's temporary. Believe me, I don't plan to keep it this way any longer then I have to. But I don't need a complaining roommate on top of everything else.

At least I'll be glad when this is over. The pipes in my place leak (I've had three leaks in the two and a half years I've been there), and the new copper piping is supposed to take care of that. I'm really happy to think about it being finished, but not happy with the process during the time.

See, I can find something to complain about on any given day of the week.

Meme Time

Yeah, I should probably be updating this with life stuff. But instead, we're doing meme's today.

First up, Thursday's Thursday Threesome brought to us this week by good deals and The Back Porch.

Onesome: Money-What's the biggest waste of money you've ever spent?
I really can't think of amything.

Twosome: Back-Have you ever said or done something that you wish you could take back?
All the time. Quite a bit on-line this week. Seems I was only opening my mouth long enough to switch feet.

Threesome: Guarantee-What do you wish would come with a guarantee?
I'd really like one on my life. When I royally mess something up, I could do it over again.

And, one I haven't done in months. The word association.

  1. Buck :: Dollar
  2. Harry :: and the Hendersons
  3. Play :: Games
  4. Monstrosity :: Horrid
  5. Nightclub :: Two-Step
  6. Missing :: Child
  7. Sprout :: Brussles
  8. Flavor :: Ice Cream
  9. Identity :: Secret
  10. Saucy :: Attitude

Really, Not Much to Report

I can't pass up an opportunity to post on 4/5/6, but I don't have much to say. I did miss looking at the clock at 1:02:03 today, however. Both AM and PM. So much for being a lover of cool numbers like that.

Of course, I bought The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe yesterday. Didn't watch it, but I bought it.

Got the oil in my car changed yesterday as well.

They are finally getting around to repiping my unit starting next Tuesday. Unfortunately, that means having to move one of the three bookcases I have by the front door. I need to go home and work on that tonight.

I'm really behind at work. I've been playing instead of working the last few days. I have got to dig in the next couple days and dig myself out from under.

See, I told you I didn't have too much to say.

Welcome to April

Looks a lot like March. It's raining and supposed to rain for the next two days. Will it ever hit 70? That's all I ask. Well, ok, maybe 75. Or 80. But this is sunny southern CA in April. Really, this shouldn't be an issue now.

Sorry, where was I? That's right, updating everyone on the week I just had. I'm really getting bad about abondoning this thing, aren't I?

Wednesday, I was invited over to Pastor Jon's house for dinner. It was a great time and I got a preview of the sermon Sunday. Yep, went to church anyway. Didn't want to miss it. It was on the prodigal son and how it fits into the culture of the day. It's so much more powerful when you know that.

Thursday, I went to the doctor again. He gave me great news. Everything still looks like it's healing correctly. While the bottom half is scarred over, the top half still has a nice hole in it from when they openned me up last time. It's healing, but very slowly. And I am so ready for it to be done!

Then, that night, I got to lead worship again. The new worship team couldn't be there, so I got to fill in. Even introduced the group to Shaun Grove's "Abba Father," which I had wanted to do since I first heard the song but never got around to doing.

Saturday, it was my turn to host game night. Finally. First one I've hosted in 2006. Something about being sick. Anyway, I spent until 1 PM just lazing around watching TV, but eventually I did get up and going. There were 10 of us, including Angelique; Kurt, Kellie, and Nick and his girlfriend Jenny from church; and the regulars. We played Beyond Balderdash (highlights to come) and had a blast. Plus Carol made the cheesecake recipe but put real strawberries on top instead of canned cherries. Absolutely delicious.

My computer had been acting up, IE freezing at random intervals causing me to have to shut my computer down completely. I had Matt run a virus scan on it while he was there, but it turned up nothing (go me!). But he did recommend trying to free up some hard disc space. That's when I found out that I still had a computer game Josh put on my computer when we were roommates that I have never played. Freed up lots of room by getting rid of that. And my computer ran fine yesterday. Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Sunday was church (still didn't get up in time for Sunday School), talking to family, and just doing stuff around the condo. I stayed up way too late last night organizing my reviews at epinions. Check it out (look at the bottom of the page). I've got to get to bed earlier tonight, however.
