Some Random TV Thoughts for Monday

I've just got a few random bits of TV musing to impart today. That's about all I'm feeling inspired to do, really.

The goodness that is Chuck returns tonight with a 3-D episode. Watch as if the fate of the world depends on it. Because it just might.

Friday night's Psych killed me multiple times. It was absolutely histerically funny. But the part I loved best was a reference to Shawn watching The Mentalist. See, in Psych, Shawn is a PI who pretends to be a psychic. In the Mentalist, the PI is a former fake psychic.

Crusoe ended its run Saturday night. I'm going to miss it. It was a pretty decent adventure show with wonderful production values. I mean, that show looked amazing. Of course, I do understand that the ratings were very poor. I'm torn about how I feel about the ending. While part of it was wonderfully just, another part wasn't the ending I had hoped for. Still, I'm very glad I watched the show.

I'll admit I didn't start watching the Super Bowl until the beginning of the second quarter, but I didn't see any impressive or highly original comercials this year. Maybe it would have helped if I wasn't doing laundry and other stuff while it was on.

And somehow, I have to find time to finish my current book as well as watch Chuck and 24 tonight. Considering I have 85 pages to go (not that I'm counting or anything) this will be tough. I may not do the workout I was planning for tonight (just don't let Ryan see this), and I probably won't watch the next episode of West Wing, either. Still, I hope I can get it finished.

Speaking of The West Wing, I am now four episodes into the series. I am finding it highly cliched, over written, and pretensious, just like how I felt with Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I just don't see the cause for all the praise.

Another thing I don't see the praise for is the original Pink Panther movie. I watched it when it was on TV Saturday. The plot was slow and it wasn't remotely funny. Silly as it was, give me the remake any day of the week.

Okay, so I managed to work in movies and books, too.

I'm still saying give it more time. I thought that The West Wing actually built in a good sense of drama.

(What kind of cliche's are you referring to - plot device, characters?)

In the second episode, as soon as the doctor pulled out the picture of the 10 day old daughter, I knew he was a dead man. I'm trying to think of one or two others that really got to me.

The last episode I watched was the one where we found out Leo was an alcholic. Yet it was introduced in, frankly, what felt like a very clumsy manner to me. And I'm not sure I find it in character. Plus him watching his wife walk away after saying his job was more important then his marriage?

I intend to get through the entire first season. As it sits right now, it's moved from two stars to three. But I really don't see myself getting hooked on the show.

Kinda like you guys and Heroes.

too late... i saw it and am utterly disgusted that you would follow through with your premeditated skipping of a workout - not one day BUT 2 in a row!! im calling you on it and you better not skip fran tomorrow - heck come do it at our place if TMC is inconvenient...

posted too soon... insert foot in mouth... how's your shoulder feeling?

It's feeling better but it's not completely well. Which is why I won't be doing Fran today at your place or TMC.

And yes, it is killing me that I can't be working out right now. Something I never thought I would hear myself say.

The episode of The West Wing that got me hooked (and happened to be the first one I saw) was the episode where they moved a fleet to the ocean to avoid a hurricane only for the hurricane to shift positions (don't remember what # that was).

With WW the reasons it was so popular was because it was one of the first (if not first) to have incredibly speedy dialog and "walk and talks" - they are always moving. I think a lot of people appreciated the atmosphere of the show.

And to me, the speedy dialogue (which I normally love) and the walk and talks seem like gimmicks and are more distracting then good.

I guess I'm just not going to get the appeal.

Never even heard of this one. Though the IMDB page makes me think I might have liked it. So much for finding and building an audience...

I'll admit I didn't start watching the Super Bowl until the beginning of the second corner, but ...

...sigh... Second quarter...

Always entertaining Mark. ...:minism:...

Ha..!!

Though 'second corner' does have a certain . . .odd appeal to it; almost sounds like it could be a cricket (the sport) term or something.

It is good to have readers that keep you on your toes, ehh.??
