First Two Winter League Games
Yes, I’m still woefully behind on life, although I’m close
to catching up. To help with that, let’s
talk about the first two winter league games of the year.
Granted, we should have had three games to date, but the
first game was rained out.
So the first game we actually played was the night of a big
deadline at work. I wasn’t sure if I was
going to make it or not, but they allowed me to leave in time to make the
game. I didn’t make anything before it,
but I did make the game. I so needed
it. It had been stressful at work, and
hanging out with friends and running on the field was wonderful stress
relief. I was actually surprised by how
well I played, too. I got a few catches
and passed it on most of the time. I did
get scored on, but I also made a low grab for a catch which I then threw for a
score. We still lost, but it was a fun
night.
Our game last week wasn’t as good. We lost by a lot more, and most of the points
were short. We just couldn’t get
anything going. I got scored on a few
times, but not as badly as I had feared since the other team was much faster. I didn’t get the disc at all, rarely even had
the opportunity to get the disc.
Tomorrow night’s our third game. It’s against the only team we beat last year
that is back, but they’ve really changed their roster around. It will be interesting to see how we do against
them. Either way, it will be a battle
until the end. It always is with them.

Quick Trip to Florida
Wow, I’m falling behind on life, and I’ve actually had stuff
going on to talk about. For example, the
day after I drove back from Christmas with my family, I flew out to Florida for
work. The advantage of being the staff
accountant for that part of the country, right?
I went to visit with two of my clinics in the Fort
Lauderdale area. I was there for
inventory observation and some financial statements training. It was a very fast trip. I flew out on Tuesday and back on Thursday,
working all day Wednesday.
The time spent working was good. I got to meet with everyone I work in that
area, which was good. They were all very
friendly and I feel like things went well.
I did get a little time for fun, too. Tuesday night, I met up with a friend for
dinner. This was a friend I made 10
years ago at Epinions, but I’d never met her in person. It was fun chatting face to face. After dinner, she took me to a church that
puts on a wonderful Christmas light show.
It was truly amazing.
Then Thursday, before I left, I made it to the beach for an
hour. It would have been nice to spend
more time there, but a little bit was better than nothing, right?

Christmas Trip
Well, I just dropped off the face of the earth for three
weeks there, didn’t I? I do have a good
excuse, honest.
I went home for a few days for Christmas, and I was busy
trying to get ready for that. I had a
fabulous time while I was there. I was
up for three full days, and they were filled with plenty of time with family,
especially my niece and nephew. They
even spent a night with Grandma and Grandpa and me. Fortunately, Grandpa got up with them when
they woke up super early because I went back to sleep.
It was just a nice, relaxing trip. Nothing super exciting happened, but it felt
absolutely wonderful.
